Some examples of contracted work I've done in Melbourne:

Porch Roof Repair

At first when I looked at this job I thought it would be a very simple repair just nailing back the fallen section of board. However, when I removed the board I found that the timber frame underneath was not stable so I needed to replace this before the roof could be properly repaired. I then fitted a new board to the roof making it flush with the support pole. The roof will now be stable for the future.

Replacing Roofing

Before, the roofing of this enclosed porch was old and damaged, making it impossible to get light and vision through the roof. Water was also coming through leaks in the roof. After replacing the polycarbonate roofing the room is lighter and cleaner with no more leaks.

A lot of leaf debris was also getting into the room through the gap under the eaves and the customer asked that I come up with a solution for this problem. Because the roofing is corrugated, using mesh or chicken wire would not work. I devised a system to use the cut-offs from the new roofing to cover the gap. This fit perfectly into the gaps created and also saved money for the customer.

Interior Painting

Before starting to paint I always make that every surface is completely covered so that floors and fittings are not damaged by paint.

Built-in Wardrobe - Shelving

The customer had a wardrobe space that required shelving and drawers. I used ready made flat-pack drawers chosen by the customer and then custom-built shelves to fit the space and the customer's requirements.

I can either build these to your specifications or repair existing structures.

Deck(Merbau)

Jungle

The customer asked me to design something for this overgrown section of their garden. As it was a very sunny space I suggested a deck would work well, but because the customers are elderly they needed a very low deck that could be accessed from any side without using a step. The final height of the deck is 140mmm making it easy to step up to from the ground.

I also needed to avoid making the frame sit too low as too deep a hole under the deck would fill with rain and become flooded easily. To achieve this I made a graduated frame using narrower framing beams at the front of the deck site. I also painted the entire deck frame. Many builders will leave the frame un-painted, but painting the framing wood will help protect it from the elements, extending the life of the deck.

Leveling

Deck

The existing pergola end-post needed to moved to make way for the deck: I re-designed it so that it is could be bolted to the exterior of the house while continuing to support the pergola.

This job included two benches and a table to match the deck and provide extra storage.

Bathroom Renovation

The customer wanted to update her bathroom and get more storage space. I worked with her to choose a vanity and storage unit that would meet her needs. The entire renovation consisted of: removal of existing vanity and installation of new vanity including taps; installation of new mirror; painting of walls, doors and ceiling.

When I removed the old vanity unit I found several holes in the wall left by previous tradesmen. I fixed these, leaving the wall ready for painting.
